How the Be Grateful jar works

  • Capture the moment

Write it down while it's still fresh. Add a photo, or the place it happened.

  • Reflect at random

Reach in and pull a moment back out. Read it, then put it back or let it go.

  • Private by design

Everything stays on your device. No accounts, no cloud, no sync, ever.

why a gratitude jar

A friend of mine and his wife keep a jar at home. Whenever something special happened, they would write it down and drop it in. At the end of the year they would empty the jar and read the moments back, remembering everything they had shared that year and being grateful for it.

They found the practice so cathartic that they never stopped. Be Grateful is a digital re-creation of that jar.

questions

What is a gratitude jar?
A gratitude jar is a jar you keep at home and drop a note into whenever something good happens. At the end of the year you empty it out and read the moments back. Be Grateful is that same practice on your phone — without the paper slips going missing.
Is Be Grateful available on Android?
Not yet. Be Grateful is on iPhone first, and an Android version is coming. If you want to hear when it lands, email us and we'll let you know.
Is Be Grateful free?
Yes, to start. Your first five moments are free, and a single one-time purchase unlocks unlimited moments for as long as you use the app. There is no subscription.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. There is no sign-up, no email, and no password. Download the app and start writing.
Where are my moments stored?
On your device, and nowhere else. Be Grateful has no servers and no cloud sync, so nothing you write ever leaves your phone. That also means we cannot read your jar — and cannot recover it for you if the device is lost.
Can I add a photo to a moment?
Yes. Alongside the words you can attach a photo, or the place the moment happened, so it comes back to you in full when you pull it out again.
